Turkish audiences watch ‘Everybody Knows’

Asghar Farhadi’s 'Everybody Knows' has appeared on the silver screen in Turkey.

Asghar Farhadi’s latest film 'Everybody Knows' starring Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz has appeared on the silver screen in Turkey. 

The Turkish premiere of the flick, which experienced its first global screening at 2018 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, kicked off from March 8, 2019 in movie theaters across Turkey.

Shot entirely in Spanish language on the Iberian Peninsula, ‘Everybody Knows’ charts the story of Laura who travels with her family from Buenos Aires to her native village in Spain. An unexpected event twists the plot.   

The film has so far attended several global film events, including the 71st Cannes Film Festival in France, the 36th Munich Int’l Film festival in Germany, the 2018 Golden Apricot Film Festival in Armenia, the 2018 Toronto Film Festival in Canada, the 66th Melbourne Int’l Film Festival in Australia, and the 55th Antalya Film Festival in Turkey, the 25th Austin Film Festival in the US, the 2018 Lumière Film Festival in France, and the CineIran (Iranian Film Festival) in Canada.

'Everybody Knows' has ranked among 10 highest-grossing Spanish films in 2018.

Iranian auteur Farhadi has so far won two Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2017 for ‘The Salesman’ and in 2012 for ‘A Separation’.

In 2012, he directed 'The Past' in French language in Paris. 'The Past' brought its star, Berenice Bejo, the Palme d’Or for best actress in 2013.
